Great Breeds For People Who Want Small Dogs

Skye Terrier – Although not great with cats, these dogs are dependable and get along well with adults and children.

Pekingese – A faithful companion and good watchdog. They are not so good with other family pets or children.

Dachshund – Excellent watchdog and bred to exterminate vermin. They are fond of digging, hunting and tracking scents.

Bichon Frise – Gets along well with children and other animals. Known for it’s puffy white coat and curious name, it is considered an active easily trained dog.

Shih Tzu – They require daily grooming, also known as the mini lion makes for a good family dog. They are very friendly and get along with all creatures even children.

Pomeranian – Adorable, mellow and gentle dog, but it can sometimes be noisy. They are great with kids as long as they have been introduced as a puppy. Despite this, they shed profusely and may not be the best choice for a house with small children.

Jack Russell Terrier – Do not choose this small breed if you are looking for a quiet dog that likes to lounge around all day. Jack Russell terriers are an active breed that loves to jump on furniture, run around and lead a generally boisterous, happy existence.

Boston Terrier – A great family dog, they Boston Terrier is friendly and bonds well with kids. It does not require a ton of grooming but be warned, it loves to munch on household items!
